Building a place where AI study is taken seriously
Naga Tech was founded on a straightforward idea — that good technical education in AI requires more patience, more feedback, and more honest engagement than most online options provide.
Back to HomeThe school behind the programmes
Naga Tech opened in Bangkok in 2020, at a moment when demand for AI skills across Southeast Asia was growing faster than the quality of available study options. The founders — a group of practitioners who had moved between industry and teaching — believed the problem was structural: most platforms optimised for scale and speed rather than depth and feedback.
The school takes its name from the nāga, the serpent figures woven through Thai and broader Southeast Asian culture — creatures associated with knowledge, rivers, and the threshold between worlds. We liked the idea of a school that sits at a threshold: between practical work and serious study, between the established curriculum and the frontiers of the field.
We offer three programmes. The first builds Python foundations for learners entering AI and data work. The second is a specialisation in computer vision, covering both the theoretical architecture of convolutional networks and the practical work of implementing them. The third is a mentorship engagement for individuals working on a meaningful independent project. All three are delivered online, in English, and are open to learners throughout Thailand and the wider region.
Every exercise submitted in our courses receives written feedback from a course instructor — not automated scoring, not a forum post, not a peer review. We think this matters. The habit of thinking carefully through what a student actually did, and communicating that back to them, is what moves people forward in this field.
Our mission
To offer well-structured, feedback-rich AI education that moves learners from foundational understanding into genuine independent work — at a pace that allows for real comprehension.
Our view of the field
AI development is a broad and changing discipline. We try to teach the durable parts — the mathematical and conceptual foundations, the engineering habits, the capacity to read and work from research — alongside the practical tools that are currently in use.
Based in Bangkok
Our administrative base is at 247 Phaya Thai Road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok. All teaching is delivered online, and our students come from across Thailand and neighbouring countries in the region.
Who teaches here
Our instructors and mentors come from backgrounds in AI research, software engineering, and data science. Each has spent time in working practice before moving into teaching.
Kasem Phornsakul
Programme Director & Lead Instructor
Kasem designed the Python for Data and AI curriculum and leads its delivery. He spent eight years as a data engineer at firms in Bangkok and Singapore before returning to teaching.
Nattaporn Wongchai
Computer Vision Specialist
Nattaporn leads the Computer Vision Specialisation, drawing on several years of research work in image classification and medical imaging. She holds a masters degree in machine learning from Chulalongkorn University.
Aroon Chamnanwit
Mentorship Programme Lead
Aroon manages the AI Project Mentorship programme, matching learners with appropriate practitioners and overseeing the quality of feedback. He has guided over forty independent AI projects to completion.
How we maintain quality
The commitments we hold ourselves to in how we teach, communicate, and handle your information.
Written feedback on every submission
All submitted exercises receive a personal written response within five working days. Feedback addresses both what was done well and where the thinking or code could be developed further.
Curriculum review each quarter
Each programme is reviewed every quarter to reflect changes in the field — new methods, updated libraries, relevant new research. Students on active programmes receive updated material without additional cost.
Data protection and privacy
Student information is used only to manage enrolment and deliver programmes. We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising. We follow Thailand's PDPA and applicable data protection standards.
Practitioner-qualified instructors
Every instructor has spent meaningful time working in the industry before teaching. We do not hire instructors whose experience is confined to academic study alone.
Clear communication at every stage
We respond to student queries within two working days. Course expectations, timelines, and assessments are documented before enrolment so there are no surprises once study begins.
Completion statements for all finishers
Learners who complete all required units and exercises receive a written completion statement from Naga Tech, suitable for portfolio inclusion or sharing with an employer.
AI education in Southeast Asia — what we have learned about what works
The study of artificial intelligence is deep enough that learners who spend time understanding what they are doing will generally surpass those who move quickly through material without that foundation. This is true whether the goal is to work in data engineering, to conduct independent research, or to apply AI methods within an existing role.
What we have found, over several years of teaching at Naga Tech, is that the single biggest factor separating learners who progress from those who stall is not aptitude or background — it is whether someone engages seriously with what they actually produced. That means looking carefully at their own code, thinking through why a model behaves as it does, and receiving considered feedback from someone who can point out what they are missing. The automated quiz approach that dominates many online platforms does not provide this.
Our Python for Data and AI programme is designed to be the course that gives a learner a genuinely usable understanding of the language and its scientific computing libraries — not a surface familiarity, but a real working knowledge. The Computer Vision Specialisation is built around the idea that reading the papers behind modern methods changes the way you think about using them. And the mentorship programme exists because there is a point in a learner's development where the most valuable thing is not more content but careful, experienced attention on the specific work they are doing.
We are based in Bangkok and serve learners across Thailand and the wider region. All programmes are in English. We think good AI education should be available to anyone who is willing to put in the work — wherever they happen to be studying from.
